Veronica still does not know that the fox belongs to the mighty Baroness Grimartha, who lives in the forest. The baroness has the whole town overgrown with forest to protect her dark figures, gloomy dolls, from the sun. And since she now has a magical fox, the two of them conclude an agreement: the fox must do good, in return the girl brings the fox home. They meet Gilbert, who is now part of the party. “Best Ukrainian Feature” at Odessa International Film Festival

“The Nest of the Turtledove” by Taras Tkachenko won the Award for Best Ukrainian Feature at Odessa.

Today close to four million Ukrainians are working abroad. Daryna returns home after two years of illegal life in Italy. She is pregnant by her Italian «signore». The choice is: to renovate her family, but kill the baby, or to give it a life, but destroy her family nest.

The story centres around Daryna (Rimma Ziubina), who returns to the Ukraine after spending two years in Genoa working as a badante (‘maid’) for a rich and newly-divorced lawyer (Mauro Cipriani) and his bitter mother (Lina Bernardi). These years of illegal work have made it possible for Dmytro (Vitaliy Linetskiy), Daryna’s husband, to build a new house in their village, and for her teenage daughter to pursue her studies in the city. They have also changed Daryna to her core, as she returns to her homeland a city-dweller and independent woman. But she is also 10 weeks pregnant, by the signore she worked for in Italy, and must choose between having an abortion and keeping the baby, at the risk of destroying her family.
